Flat Iron Giveaway (NOW CLOSED)

This contest is closed. The winner has already been chosen.

Okay, so there's a funny little story behind this giveaway. I actually WON this in a random contest awhile ago but never even opened it because I already have a flat iron that I love and I don't really need two. Well I completely forgot about it until we decided to clean out our basement recently and it turned up. So.... how do you feel about re-gifting?? LOL I normally don't re-gift. BUT this really is an awesome flat iron (or so I've heard) and I would rather see it go to one of our wonderful blog readers than sit in my basement!!

If you want all the specs and stuff on it, I found the exact model on the Misikko site here: Babyliss Flat Iron. It looks like the regular price is $140.00 and it's on sale right now.

Oh, and for all of you who worry about this sort of thing (like me, yuck) it is BRAND NEW! We've never taken it out of the box or used it, so you don't need to worry about the ick factor of someone elses hair being ran through it. Tee hee :)

How to enter:

The usual
1. Just leave a comment. Say whatever you want!
2. Add our button to your blog. (The code is on the sidebar to the right.)
3. If you follow our hair blog (on google friend connect) leave a comment telling me you do.
4. Become a fan on our facebook page. (If you're already a fan that counts too.)

Now for the fun part........
5. Tell me how you feel about re-gifting. Have you ever done it? Has someone done it to you? Do you have a funny story about it?

Can't wait to read all your re-gifting stories!!

As usual, yada yada, leave a separate comment for each entry to better your chances (up to 5.) And, make sure to leave a way for me to contact you in case you don't check back when I announce the winner (hate it when that happens.) If the initial winner doesn't respond within 48 hours I'll draw someone else.

This will end on July 31st.

So curious, what flat iron(s) do you recommend? I recently had my hair styled with one and I'm in LOVE but I want it to be a good one because normally, I have insanely curly hair including hair in front that has some big time damage issues so it's got to be a good one. Would love to enter the contest but as I'm in South Korea right now, probably can't. :(

I'm so excited about this one. I have wanted a flat iron for so long, but haven't been able to put the money out for it! I've wanted to use one for my daughter for so long and now someone has shown me how to use it on my own hair!! I would be SUPER excited to win this!!! Thank you for your blog and all your ideas - my dd and I love to look through them together to pick one out to try!! :)

Oh gosh, I'm embarassed to say I have re-gifted a few things (Blush)!! But in my defense, they have been nice things that you would never know were re-gifted. But I had received a silver tray for a wedding gift that was just really not "me"!! Well my SIL is really "froofy" and would DIE if she knew she got a "re-gift" but I did it and she loved it and as far as I know, never knew!!! LOL!!! (sheepish grin)
In this case, I would say that you are "sharing" your gift vs re-gifting!!! Because you're telling us!!!! :)
I'm very excited - hope I win!!! heehee...

Regifting something caused me great embarassment. My aunt bought me a crockpot for Christmas, I already had one, so I stored it, and then gave it as a shower gift for an office co-worker's daughter. My aunt had put a card inside the box that held the crockpot, she somehow slid it into the sealed box (I guess she resealed it.) Horrors!

I unfortunately have no entertaining stories about regifting. Sad. But sometimes I do feel it is okay. As long as you don't give it back to the person who gave it to you first!

Erin-Joi said...

I find re-gifting to be liberating. No one has the same styles and tastes. Not really. If I am not likely to use a gift, I feel like I should pass it on. Why should it sit in my closet when someone else can get use out of it. Last year a fellow blogger posted re-gifting receipts. They are to be included in a receipt to give permission to re-gift.
To be sure that I do not give something back to the person it came from, I keep re-giftables in a box with the name of the original giver.

I DO re-gift...we have our pile of double (and triple) wedding gifts, that we will re-gift. The funniest thing that we did was get a songbook from our friends, when we opened it up, it was personalized for them! I don't think they realized this, which is why they re-gifted it. To make it even funnier, we ended up re-gifting it to some of our mutual friends! lol

Re-gifting is funny. I think like this giveaway, where the gift isn't opened, and really we wouldn't know otherwise that you were re-gifting, it's fine. However, if you can tell that it's been looked it, used or is being re-gifted, don't do it. It can be rude and tacky. But if the other person has no idea and it's a good gift for them, lol, then it's fine. :)

I have re-gifted, and been given a re-gift too. For our wedding we got something and opened it up, inside there was a card to someone we had no idea who it was. I am suspecting that it was a re-gift, of a re-gift. My new husband and I just laughed and laughed. Then with all of the gifts that couldn't be taken back, we made a "prize" closet for all of the weddings that we were attending. Of course we made sure that there weren't any cards in there to give away that it was a re-gift. :)

aldwedgi@hotmail.com

Suzanne and Davey Maughan said...

Oh we've regifted MANY presents...wedding presents. We were really poor when we got married (ok, we're not millionaires now) and so instead of buying my friend's presents for their weddings, we regifted and gave them ones that we would never use or had doubles of. :)

I feel that re-gifting is perfectly fine in MOST instances. There are a few times that even if you don't like something you should keep it around because it really means something to the person that gave it...but overall I thing regifting is a wonderful thing. I don't mind if someone regifts something I gave them if they can't use it, and I have regifted things I know someone else would like but I have no use for.

Tracy said...

I do regift, and think it's entirely okay! Sometimes something will be more appreciated with someone else.

Count me in! I like re-gifting because it puts those things you don't want to use again--maybe! I had a porcelain vase and frame that I got for my wedding that I could not stand! I absolutely think re-gifting is good. I think one CAN get carried away with it though, and you want to be sure not to give the same gift back to someone, but there have been a few times I would get presents for not close friends that gave me a generic present like lotion, or a pair of earrings that aren’t my taste and I have thought ‘my sister would LOVE these.’ Totally for it. And I totally do it!

Regifting:
I think it is great too. I don't see a thing wrong with it. My little sister's last name was Ward. I asked her where she got that wonderful baby deep fat fryer she gave me and she responded, "Wards" that was before Montgomery Ward went out of business, then she added, "well Ward's closet"
I still have that fryer, still use it, and think of her every time I do. I think it is great.

my curling iron fell in my drain clogged sink full of water. it was still on after i pulled it out (yes im physcially fine..oops)i dried it off, i needed to finish my style so i used it.....holy crap my hair instantly turned brown(was blonde) and fell off (like nano-seconds)no you cant put it back. i brushed it and pulled it back, i had to go to work. it was the whole front side ...gone. its almost grown back. geez

I think regifting if fine, most of the time. However, my son's birthday is Dec 28, and since no one wants to attend another party that time of year, and since I don't want him getting regifted the Christmas rejects, we celebrate his half birthday in June - way better time of year for a kid party!
